GEAR UP – Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs is a nationally recognized initiative that focuses on increasing the college and career readiness of students in underserved communities. By connecting K–12 schools, higher education institutions, state agencies, and community organizations, GEAR UP seeks to:
- Raise postsecondary expectations and readiness among students.
- Improve high school graduation and college enrollment rates.
- Increase knowledge of postsecondary options, preparation, and financing among students and families.

The Texas Internship Challenge is a partnership between the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), Texas Education Agency (TEA) and The Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), who challenge employers to offer paid internships and make it easy for students to search and apply for them.
