Campus Happenings

Progress reports will be distributed in 2nd period this Thursday, February 16th.
Students no longer receive a detailed progress report from every teacher showing every assignment, but rather one progress report that shows each class' average and attendance in an effort to save paper. Please remember you can check parent portal daily!


Skills USA State Qualifiers



Jordan Haynes (left) and Carlye Lide (right) participated in the Skills USA Competition on Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at Plano East High School.  They are involved in Culinary at Wills Point High School and their teacher, Chelly Sturgell, informed them about this competition. Both girls entered in the exhibit part of the competition. Carlye Lide won best of Show with her cake she decorated for the cake decorating part of the exhibit. She also qualified for state with her cake. Jordan Haynes had a high score which qualified her for state as well. Jordan made a Challah Six Braid Bread formed into a circle. The judges absolutely loved both of the girls' exhibits and wrote wonderful comments on their scoring sheet. Carlye and Jordan are going to Corpus Cristi in the end of March to compete in State.

Senior Information

**UPDATE: The state has enacted Senate Bill 1107 effective January 1, 2012, requiring that all first-time students entering college must provide proof of vaccination against bacterial meningitis 10 days prior to the start of classes.**

Debate

The speech and debate team competed Lincoln Douglas and Cross
Examination Debate at Quitman on Saturday. In Lincoln Douglas Debate,
Zach Berberich received 3rd place, 4th place went to Blake Unger and
Aaron Berberich placed 5th.  Blake Unger and Zach Berberich also
ranked in the top 5 for best speaker.

Katie King and Nikki Wimberly received 6th place in Cross Examination
Policy Debate.


The speech and debate team attended a tournament in Ferris on Saturday. Out of 33 opponents in Lincoln Douglas debate, Blake Unger, Zach and Aaron Berberich placed in the top 10 for best speaker as well and for wins & losses.


Out of 50 opponents in cross examination debate, Katie King placed in the top 12 for best speaker

Katie King, Aaron Berberich and Katie King advanced to semi finals in
extemporaneous speaking, with Zach Berberich placing 1st in finals for
persuasive extemporaneous speaking.
