HOMECOMING WEEK 2016

Principal's Message

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

  Wills Point High School—
Rich in Tradition…Driven by Innovation

Welcome to the 2016-2017 School year!! We are extremely excited for what is in store for our students this year and cannot wait to get started!

Great things are headed your way. Our theme for this year is a “Focus on Learning”. This means that all of us will be learning this year. New staff, new ideas, new ways of reaching success—all geared towards the best possible preparation of our students as they get ready for that next step. Whether a two or four-year College or University, vocational program, Military or immediate contributions to the workforce, Wills Point High School students will be ready.

Here are some new elements to be aware of as we begin:

Web site—Please take the time to check out our new web site and all of its offerings. We are committed to providing the most up to date information needed, as well as a wealth of resources and information. Be sure to stop by the new and improved Counselor’s Corner. This page will continue to grow as the year progresses. Our counselors are here to serve you any way they can, and this is one of their greatest resources built just for you and your family. Our teachers also have new websites, and will have their classes built on line in Google Classroom. If you ever have questions about what your students are doing in class, you will be able to see that information on these teacher websites.

Bell Schedule—Be advised we have modified the bell schedule slightly for this next year. Classes will begin promptly at 8:05, and we will end the day at 3:46. Periods have been extended slightly to increase our focus on academic time. This should help our students refine their learning daily by subject, and to stay on top of their assignments as well. We have also added a new feature, LEADERSHIP ACADEMY. Every Thursday, your students will be in this leadership academy receiving purpose driven tools that help them stay on top of their classwork, self-advocate and meet with tremendous academic success throughout the year.

The Principal’s office—My office is now located at the front of the building. You are all welcome to stop by and share in all the great things that are happening here at Wills Point High School. During the day I will be focused on learning, visiting all classrooms and learning from our outstanding faculty, but will check with my outstanding Executive Assistant Ms. Donna Wooldridge throughout the day. I am committed to helping your student achieve excellence, and am always pleased to share our triumphs with our families at any time.

We have been hard at work all summer getting ready for a fantastic year, and we are ready for everyone’s return, and look forward to a great year focused on LEARNING!
